Capabilities
I mix for the performance in front of me, with a focus on making good sources sound even better and ensuring the show translates properly to the audience.
I design, deploy and tune PA systems around the venue, audience and production. Prediction provides the plan; measurement, listening and the real room finish the job.
I build audio workflows that make sense from end to end. Signal distribution, processing, networking, control and redundancy should work together—and remain understandable when something inevitably decides not to.
It is rare to encounter the same combination of PA, consoles, processing and network infrastructure twice. A large part of systems work in New Zealand is understanding what is available, finding the gaps and getting everything to behave like one reliable system.
Selected experience includes Western Audio, Oceania, internationally touring productions and the occasional high-end corporate show.
I regularly work across d&b audiotechnik, DirectOut, Lake and audio networking workflows, alongside the major console platforms including DiGiCo, Yamaha, Avid and Allen & Heath.
I care about the end result, occasionally beyond what could be considered professionally convenient.
For me, that means doing the preparation, questioning the details and removing as many opportunities for surprise as possible. There will always be enough surprises in live production without deliberately leaving any behind.
